In Season of the Wish, Iron Banner’s newest weapon has a lot of the Destiny 2 community talking. Lethal Abundance’s perk pool is practically a PvP player’s dream, featuring favorites both new and old that make it stand out from the competition.

Lethal Abundance may belong to the 360RPM archetype of Auto Rifles, a traditionally unpopular subfamily. But that hasn’t stopped players from singing its praises since it dropped at the start of the season. Auto Rifles like this don’t often find a place in the meta, but its weaknesses are mitigated by the fact Lethal Abundance comes with the newly reprised Onslaught perk in its fourth column, offering players the opportunity to crank up the gun’s fire rate without sacrificing the archetype’s strong damage output.

There are almost too many good perks to pick from here. However, if you want to make Lethal Abundance competitive against its contemporaries from the more popular archetypes, you need to pick the right combination to maximize its potential. Here’s our recommendation on what Lethal Abundance god roll you should be looking for in PvP and PvE.

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: High-Caliber Rounds
  • First perk: Keep Away, Dynamic Sway Reduction or Slice
  • Second perk: Tap The Trigger or Onslaught
  • Masterwork: Range

For Lethal Abundance’s PvP god roll, Onslaught is the obvious choice, but the stat-boosting combination of Keep Away and Tap The Trigger cannot be easily overlooked. With both bonuses active, paired alongside a range-boosting magazine and masterwork, Lethal Abundance is capable of maxing out at 100 range and 71 stability.

It doesn’t have the fire rate of PvP kings like Ammit AR2, but its optimal time-to-kill is only 0.03 seconds slower. With this roll, Lethal Abundance can also handily outrange the Ammit AR2 god roll—damage falloff only starts at 39.52 meters in comparison to Ammit’s 35.40 meters maximum. This creates a pretty simply strategy to abide by where possible: keep your distance and you’ll be able to outrange the stronger competition.

However, if you choose to go the route of Onslaught in the fourth column, you can tweak the rest of the roll now that the gun’s time-to-kill disadvantage in close quarters is eradicated. Swap out Keep Away for something like Dynamic Sway Reduction, which grants vital bursts of accuracy and stability to the gun to replace the huge bump of 40 stability that you’ve now lost without Tap The Trigger.

Slice has also become a popular pickup for Hunters, with the perk’s potent ability to debuff an opponent with Sever much easier to access thanks to their rapid class ability cooldowns. That makes its viability quite niche when it’s restricted to only one of the three classes, but for Hunters that wish to exploit it, there’s a lot of success to be found with a god roll such as Slice and Onslaught.

If you run a Void subclass, Elemental Capacitor is also a strong perk choice in the third column for that 20 stability bonus, and even something like Discord could be worth experimenting with for players who open a fight with their special weapon before switching over. The only thing holding these two perks back is their niche value, but that doesn’t nullify that value in the hands of a Guardian whose playstyle perfectly caters to what these perks do.

Lethal Abundance PvE god roll in Destiny 2

  • Barrel: Polygonal Rifling
  • Magazine: High-Caliber Rounds or Light Mag
  • First perk: Slice
  • Second perk: Hatchling or Onslaught
  • Masterwork: Stability

If you’re one of the few players grinding Iron Banner for a Lethal Abundance PvE god roll, there are some very interesting perks here worth looking at. Slice is a new Strand perk in season 23, and with it being in the third column, it can be paired with Hatchling for double the Strand subclass synergy.

With both Slice and Hatchling equipped, Lethal Abundance is capable of afflicting combatants with Sever after a class ability cast and spawning Threadlings off of precision final blows. If you want a primary weapon that can proc Strand subclass keywords and play into your equipped Fragments, you can’t get much better than Lethal Abundance in the current season outside of Exotics like Quicksilver Storm.

PvE builds are also less concerned with the minutiae of time-to-kill stats and range comparisons, which gives us a bit more breathing room with the rest of the roll. High-Caliber Rounds is still good here for the flinch effect against minor combatants, but some players will prefer Light Mag for the combined bonuses to reload speed and range. Now that we’re not using perks like Tap The Trigger or Dynamic Sway Reduction, it’s good to take Polygonal Rifling and a stability Masterwork to regain some of that stability that we’re now missing out on.

However, fully investing in Lethal Abundance’s Strand synergy isn’t the only way to construct a PvE god roll. Onslaught and Target Lock are both exceptional perk picks in the fourth column. Onslaught will be a go-to choice for those using the Auto Rifle as a workhorse weapon in lower-end PvE content such as Vanguard Ops Strikes or seasonal activities, while Target Lock is perfect when paired with Slice for taking on endgame content such as Nightfalls and The Coil.

What’s more, Lord Saladin even offers a Slice and Target Lock roll of Lethal Abundance for free as a vendor rank-up reward in Season of the Wish. Play enough Iron Banner to reach rank four with him and you’ll own a solid starting roll, even before you’ve invested in any kind of focused Engram decoding.
