Can you reload mech ammo in Helldivers 2?

You want to be careful how you use your mech in Helldivers 2.

Like many of the weapons in Helldivers 2, the Patriot Exosuit mechs have a finite amount of ammunition they can use before they run out. You might wonder if there’s a way you can refuel a mech’s ammo supply and if you can repair it when it takes some damage.

Aside from only having limited ammo, if your mech takes enough damage, expect it to explode with you inside it. You want to ensure you make the most of them, especially given these limitations. Here’s what you need to know about repairing and reloading your mech in Helldivers 2.

As it stands, you cannot reload or repair your mech in Helldivers 2. You have several ways you can reload your standard weapons, grab additional grenades, or load up on more stims to heal yourself in Helldivers 2, but the same cannot be said for the mechs. Even if you call down a resupply and try to use any of those items while inside the mech, there’s no way for you to use them. Those only work for the standard and support weapons you’re holding.

Will mech reloading be added in the future for Helldivers 2?

There is always a chance Helldivers 2 could change its approach to mechs and make it possible to resupply their ammo and restore their health in a future update. Developer Arrowhead Games Studio takes on board player feedback. For instance, one update made some of Helldivers 2’s more notorious enemies more manageable, much to the delight of hundreds of players.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see mech resupply stations appearing somewhere on the map as hidden side objectives at some point, especially during the more difficult Helldivers 2 missions. Or a Stratagem unlock where you can bring down a resupply drop pod for your mech, similar to the standard ammunition you can bring down for your Helldivers 2 team. Right now, this is not the case and is purely speculation.

There is some demand for reloading mech ammo from fans. In a March 9 Steam forum post, Sparda expressed frustration at being forced to ditch their mech once they’re out of ammo: “If I did well enough to not die in this death trap I should be able to reload the dang thing.” Likewise, Reddit user Lady_Eisheth said on March 10 how they’d like it if you could find more ammo for mechs during missions, considering how quickly you run out. But Arrowhead doesn’t always capitulate to what the players want, as evidenced by its willingness to nerf certain popular weapons.

The mechs have arrived because the Helldivers 2 players were able to liberate Tien Kwan before the Automatons could overrun it. The planet was freed in under 24 hours, and now mechs are available galaxywide, ready to preserve democracy for Super Earth.
