Copper is a basic resource in Lightyear Frontier used in early upgrades and facilities but is hard to come by if you don’t know where to look.

While most early game resources, such as Stone, Wood, and Aluminum, can be found in abundance, Copper is a bit of a slog to locate, and the search can be more difficult if you position your base far away from most of the other areas surrounding The Meadows. So, how exactly do you get Copper in Lightyear Frontier?

There are two steps to getting Copper Ore in Lightyear Frontier: complete a mission in Edge Cliffs and upgrade your Mech’s Spike Saw. It’s a two-part process with a decent amount of steps, making this one of the tougher materials to get.

Copper Ore can be found in abundance in the Edge Cliffs region, but only after you first restore the area to its former glory. To obtain the Copper Ore that you’re likely seeking to craft Copper Wire, the steps you need to follow are:

  • Travel to the Edge Cliffs area near the south region of the map right below The Meadows.
  • Clear away all of the Noxious Weeds you come across using your Vacuum Harvester.
  • Restore the entire region by continuing to remove Noxious Weeds until the progress bar at the top of the screen says 100 percent.

Fixing up this area takes time, but I managed to do it pretty quickly, even without an upgraded Vacuum Harvester. I found that holding down the use button for the Vacuum Harvester made it super easy to quickly pick up all Noxious Weeds even when I was far away from them.

Once the Edge Cliffs area has been cleared of Noxious Weeds and you see the Region Restored notification, you have to wait until the next day for the Copper Ore to appear. You’ll get a cutscene overnight of the area beginning to flourish since you fixed it, and you can then find Copper Ore in the circular mounds all around the region.

Since it takes a bit of time for Copper Ore to actually appear, you can use the downtime to move on to the next step in this process, which is to upgrade your Spike Saw so you can mine this material when it appears. You need to get the Spike Saw Power I upgrade to mine Copper Ore. This upgrade costs five Aluminum Parts, which you need Aluminum Rods to make.

With your Spike Saw upgraded and ready to go, head back to Edge Cliffs to finally mine the Copper Ore you need. These veins can be a bit hard to find as there aren’t many. Most veins are hidden in trees or at the highest point of the sub-area.

Not all the Copper Ore mounds will be filled right away, so you have to return to Edge Cliffs often to gather more. It takes time for this biome to fully come back to life, but once it does, you’ll have no trouble getting all the Copper Ore you desire.
