Earlier today, the organization announced the arrival of OpTic Gaming AWPer Jakob “JUGi” Hansen, who will take the place of in-game leader Casper “cadiaN” Moller. Valdemar “valde” Vangsa is moving into the IGL role, which is a duty that he’s never served in his Counter-Strike career.

“I feel that the time has come for me to take on extra responsibilities within the team,” valde said in the team’s announcement. “Becoming an in-game leader and team captain is not a decision you make overnight. It’s something I’ve thought about many, many times during my career and I knew within myself that the day where I would make that transition was gonna come at one point but I certainly didn’t see it coming this early.”

“I cannot promise you miracle results overnight and there will definitely be bumps along the road, but what I can promise you is someone who’s willing to sacrifice what it takes to bring his team to the top,” valde said. “I really believe that my vision and leadership will take us there. I hope you guys will follow me on this journey. It would mean a lot to me.”

These changes come as North looks to re-examine the roster’s approach to the game, namely the IGL and AWP roles, which cadiaN held during his seven-month tenure with the team. JUGi’s first games as the primary AWPer will be in the ESL One Cologne closed qualifier, the ESL Pro League, and DreamHack Masters Dallas.
