If you want to dramatically fall to the ground and shift the outcome of a Trial, then here’s everything you need to know about Plot Twist in Dead by Daylight.

How to use Plot Twist in DBD

Plot Twist can be used by pressing the active ability button (the E key on PC) when you are injured, motionless, and crouched. This will cause your Survivor to silently enter the Dying state, but you’ll make no grunts of pain and leave no pools of blood.

During this time, you can recover from the Dying state, which fully heals you and gives a 50 percent Haste speed boost for four seconds. Plot Twist can only be used once during any given Trial, but the Perk can be used a second time if all the generators are powered.

While using Plot Twist, remember the Killer and other Survivors can interrupt your healing progress. If a Killer picks you up or Survivors heal you into the injured health state, you’ll still be able to use Plot Twist again later.

Plot Twist is best utilized with another perk called Decisive Strike, which allows you to break free from the Killer’s grasp if you’ve just been unhooked. By using Plot Twist and Decisive Strike together at the best times, you can force your character back onto the ground to fully heal when you are unhooked. If the Killer happens to find you and picks you up, then Decisive Strike will allow you to break free and run away.

You can also use Plot Twist with Meg Thomas’ Sprint Burst Perk, which gives you a 150 percent Haste speed boost for four seconds whenever your DBD character is not Exhausted. This combines with the extra speed boost you receive from healing with Plot Twist, allowing you to run away quickly if the Killer gets too close.

Ultimately, Plot Twist is not only a useful healing tool, but a powerful way to exert pressure against the Killer. While you silently heal in a secluded area, skilled teammates can complete generators, maximizing efficiency.
