As summer progressed and teams became more acclimated to the new patch, many fans and pundits believed that the meta would slowly revert back to what it once was, with tanks in the top lane and AD carries scaling bot side.

Well, three weeks into the LCK Summer Split the community just witnessed KINGZONE play Blitzcrank and Morgana bot lane versus SKT’s Soraka and Tahm Kench duo in game one of their best-of-three match.

Despite there being five support champions on the map including KINGZONE’s mid Rakan, game one was a massacre in terms of kills. Both SKT and KINGZONE’s players all seemed ready and willing to roam around the map, creating skirmishes and teamfights across Summoner’s Rift.

With so many supportive champions in play though, teamfights were a mess that KINGZONE barely edged out. Tanks to these comical teamfight victories and support Kang “GorillA” Beom-hyeon’s pinpoint accuracy with Blitzcrank hooks, KINGZONE were able to take game one.

Despite a return to the standard two-support lineup, game two was still a mess. SKT began the game quite strong, with top laner Park “Thal” Kwon-hyuk 4/0/0 as Darius. But even with such a lead, SKT could not overcome KINGZONE’s secret weapon—Anivia’s crystalize wall.

Every time SKT would try and initiate a play, KINGZONE mid laner Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong simply placed a wall. SKT’s champions had no way to get passed Bdd’s wall, and thus were forced to concede not only objectives like the Baron, but their lead.

KINGZONE’s final match of the week will be against Hanwha Life Esports on Saturday.
