It has to be near water, surely?

A clue in the name, the Water Chestnut can be hard to find in Fields of Mistria due to its unique appearance. No amount of shaking trees or cutting back bushes will help you find it, as the Water Chestnut hides in plain sight to those in desperate need of it.

Here’s our quick guide on where to find Water Chestnuts in Fields of Mistria.

Fields of Mistria: Water Chestnut location

Unlike other common items in Fields of Mistria, Water Chestnuts hide like a needle in the haystack inside Mistria’s intricate flora. Disguised as a bundle of green stems that poke out of the riverbank, Water Chestnuts spawn on the edge of The Narrows River. You can pluck them straight out of the soil using the Harvest button. The Narrows is on the west side of Mistria and includes two rivers you can visit in the hunt for Water Chestnuts.

Multiple Water Chestnut bundles can spawn in at once, and they will respawn at a later date. You cannot revisit the area within the same day to harvest the same bundle twice, however. We recommend checking the far south side of The Narrows and searching the riverbank here for the Water Chestnut. This nut will appear visibly taller when harvesting is available and shorter once picked up (as the roots remain for more to grow). The Harvest prompt will also disappear to tell you that harvesting is no longer available for this item.

You can often find a bundle of three to five Water Chestnuts per harvest.

While Water Chestnuts are a personal favorite for Juniper, not everyone will be trying to seduce her with gifts. Instead, Water Chestnuts is a common ingredient used for the Trail Mix recipe. This recipe requires two Water Chestnut and one Wild Berry to make (you need six and three for the Trail Mix Request). Recipes give meal effects that temporarily increase your stamina and health stats.

Water Chestnuts, alongside many other recipe ingredients, crops, and plants in Fields of Mistria frequently pop up as a Request Item. Many Mistria residents send out personal requests for specific items; where you need to forage, harvest, or dive into the Mines to bring back what they asked for. Some requests even pinpoint to the recipe specifically, like how you’re prompted to make Trail Mix on day two (but only by accepting the corresponding request on the board in town).
