The Elder Scrolls Online is giving players free DLC dungeons next month

Who needs ESO+ anyway?

MMOs and copious DLC have always gone hand in hand—you have to pay for those massive servers somehow, after all. As part of its ongoing 10-year anniversary celebrations, however, The Elder Scrolls Online is lifting the paywall to let some fan-favorite content go for absolutely free.

Previous ESO freebies over the past few months have included mounts, pets, and even entire zone expansions, but in September the focus shifts to dungeons and those who delve them. More costumes and weapon skins will be given out, but the main draw here is the Fang Lair and Scalecaller Peak DLC dungeons, which you can claim just by logging into the game—no strings attached.

Your third daily login during the month of September will give you Fang lair, while your fourth nets you Scalecaller Peak. These two dungeons collectively make up the Dragon Bones DLC dungeon pack, which is currently on ESO‘s Crown Store for 1,500 Crowns or $14.99 USD (assuming there are no Crown sales, as ZeniMax and Bethesda like to do during Quakecon and associated events). Any discount to the price of free is a great deal, especially considering that dungeon packs often come with more than just the dungeons.

Even a casual run through either dungeon will net you unique gear, outfit styles, trophy furnishings for your home, Undaunted points, and even a spooky Dragon Priest mask in case you want to cosplay as that formidable foe from Skyrim. In addition, during September only, completing both of these dungeons will allow you to claim the Dungeon Explorer costume from the Crown Store for free to show off your dungeon cred. Finally, if all that isn’t enough, completing 10 Undaunted daily quests (which is tallied over your entire career, not just September) will net you the dragon-themed Thurvokun Arms Pack.

It’s been a year filled with goodies for ESO players thus far, and September seems to be carrying on that trend admirably. Especially for those without an ESO+ subscription, this extra content can be a game-changer—literally—so make sure you get those crucial logins!
