With so many romance options in Baldur’s Gate 3, absolutely everyone has a personal canon love interest—even the voice actors. Devora Wilde, the voice behind Lae’zel’s candid charisma, has her own opinions on which companion is perfect for everyone’s favorite gith.

During her recent appearance on Fall Damage on YouTube, Wilde was asked for her thoughts on the game inbetween being quizzed on some iconic Lae’zel lines. When prompted about “canon couples” in BG3, she revealed her go-to pick would be the romance between Lae’zel and Shadowheart—and her reasoning is perfect.

“Lae’zel and Shadowheart,” she said in the rapid-fire interview, crowning Lae’zel x Shadowheart the leading romance for many BG3 players with her suggestion. “It’s gotta be.. They’ve [got] that kind of love/hate relationship.”

“Shadowzel” fans will be delighted to hear Lae’zel’s voice actress is also a fan of the tense hot-and-cold dynamic between the two. The initially unlikely pairing is, in fact, the most popular relationship for Lae’zel that doesn’t involve a custom protagonist if the stats on fan-fiction website Archive of Our Own and social media page Tumblr are to be believed.

Wilde mentioned she also enjoys a romance between Karlach and Lae’zel, another “opposites attract” kind of relationship that pairs Karlach’s sunny disposition with Lae’zel’s brusque demeanor.

The question about romance came right on the heels of Wilde gushing about Lae’zel being a “cutie-pie,” so it’s unsurprising she picked Lae’zel as her romance option in her own stream of BG3. You can catch up on her playthrough on her Youtube or Twitch channels for more doting on Lae’zel, mentions of Minthara being a babe, and more.
