Colonies can be a source of almost infinite resources and a game-changer when it comes to stockpiling resources ahead of the Whiteout. Establishing populous colonies is also a goal of the Colonize the Frostland ambition to win in the Utopia Builder mode.

To create a colony in Frostpunk 2, you must find a suitable location in the Frostland. In the story mode, the game directs you to the colony locations, while in Utopia Builder, you have to find them yourself.

The colony location has a flag marker with a golden border. Click on it to see the construction requirements. Construction usually involves Cores, Prefabs, and Frostland Teams. Make sure to connect the colony to the capital city using Trails and send the colonists.

settlements:

As you explore the Frostland, you’ll also find locations for possible settlements. Settlements and colonies are different, as you can’t manage the settlement directly.

A colony acts as a minor city with its own problem levels, like Squalor and Cold, but is easier to maintain. Make sure to build Extraction Districts (feel free to put them into overdrive) to provide enough for the colonists to survive and gain access to the endless resource deposits.

Once you start extracting resources, you can send them to the capital city. You can also send resources and people from the capital city to the colony if you want to expand it.
