North confirmed that the team has brought on Philip “Aizy” Astrup to replace Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel on the active lineup. The change comes just before DreamHack Masters Las Vegas, where North will be competing for the first time on LAN since the ELEAGUE Major. Aizy joins the team from FaZe Clan, where he played on a mixed European team that saw some recent success.
The move may seem surprising to some, as North has seen good success as a roster, but the change came in part as a result of Rubino being unsure of what he wants to do moving on and his will to play the game has decreased. It was the departure of Rubino that sparked the acquisition of Aizy, meaning that Rubino was not kicked, but rather, it was his choice to step down from the roster.
Aizy has signed a three-year contract with North and will be joining the team shortly. Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad has replaced Aizy on FaZe’s roster for the time being, but the rumor is that Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom will be joining FaZe as a full-time player after he was left out of the recent French shuffle that saw players in the French scene moving around.
