With its NA LCS team in last place, Clutch Gaming has parted ways with head coach David Lim, the organization announced earlier today via Twitter.
Clutch gave no reason behind the decision to let go of Lim, simply thanking the former head coach “for his tenure with the team and wish him well as he pursues other opportunities.”
In Lim’s stead, Clutch Gaming has named assistant coach Anand “Curry” Agarwal the team’s interim head coach. Curry expressed his excitement to be Clutch Gaming’s interim coach, saying that he’s “confident in [Clutch Gaming’s] ability to improve.” Formerly an assistant coach for TSM, Curry joined Clutch Gaming just prior to the 2018 season’s start.
Like Curry, Lim also joined Clutch Gaming during the 2017-2018 offseason as the team’s inaugural head coach. Before joining Clutch Gaming, Lim was part of Team Liquid’s coaching staff. Initially an assistant coach, Lim became Liquid’s head coach following the 2016 Summer Split, taking over Choi “Locodoco” Yoon-seop’s duties. Lim remained Liquid’s head coach until the end of the 2017 Spring Split, when Jang “Cain” Nu-ri took over the position.
Following Clutch Gaming’s announcement, Lim responded to the Twitter post, saying “it was a pleasure working with Clutch [Curry] is going to kill it!” Lim has yet to reveal his future plans.
Currently dead last in the NA LCS standings, Clutch Gaming are on a four game loss streak. Last week Clutch made changes to their NA LCS roster, subbing in three players from their academy team. Unfortunately for Clutch, the results proved unsuccessful and the team have since reverted back to their original roster for week seven of the NA LCS Summer Split.
Clutch Gaming will hope to end their loss streak on Aug. 4, when they face Cloud9 at 5pm CT.
