League of Legends’ in-game emotes have been a fun way for players to express themselves ever since they launched in Patch 7.20, and they are about to become much more personalized.
Starting in Patch 8.12, each one will have its own sound effect. For example, the bee-related emotes all feature a buzzing sound that changes tone whether you are using the Bee Happy, Bee Sad, or Bee Mad emote.
In addition, specific emotes (like the Hat’s Off emote), will receive custom animations. Players will also be able to show emotes across the map with Emote Bubbles. These bubbles, set on a separate display bar during the game, allow players to see emotes from champions even when they aren’t on screen. These can be turned off in the game’s settings.
Quality of life improvements will also be added to the Emote Collection Tab, such as the ability to organize emotes alphabetically and by date purchased. Players will be able to view unowned emotes from the same tab and purchase them directly from the game’s shop. Two new Auto-Fire slots have been added, so players can set emotes to automatically play whenever they earn first blood or ace the enemy team.
In addition, emotes will join the skin sale rotation, with emotes older than six months set to receive higher discounts, according to a post on the League of Legends boards. New mystery emote tokens will allow players the chance to pick up emotes from past events that are no longer available and will be periodically available in the shop.
The emote changes are set to be released this Wednesday, so turn your volume up and get ready to spam your opponents.
