FaZe Clan’s Turner “Tfue” Tenney and Dennis “Cloak” Lepore continue to prove that they’re two of the best Fortnite: Battle Royale players in the world.

In the fifth Friday Fortnite tournament, FaZe took down talented duos round after round, beating NoahJ456 and Avery “Avxry” Lopriore in the first round and following it up with wins over Nick Eh 30’s team, week two champions Andre “TypicalGamer” Rebolo and Nicholas “Thief” Smorto, and the pairing of Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar and Derrick Reaver.

These four series wins secured their spot in the winners bracket finals, where they met TSM’s Daequan Loco and Juan “CaMiLLs” Camilla. In past tournaments, FaZe have played Daequan and CaMiLLs’ TSM teammates several times, trading wins back and forth.

This matchup was highly-contested from the start, with CaMiLLs dropping fairly early on in game one. This gave FaZe a hefty advantage, which they used to take a five-kill lead heading into the second map. In game two, both teams finished with nearly 20 kills, but TSM couldn’t make up the difference from the first game.

With the win over TSM, Tfue and Cloak will make their second grand finals appearance in five tournaments, becoming the second team in the tournament’s history to become two-time grand finalists. When they made it to the grand finals the first time, they defeated Twitch star Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and KingRichard to win the $10,000 grand prize two weeks ago.

While it comes as little surprise that FaZe are in the grand finals again, there were some shocking results in the tournament. One of the biggest upsets came when last week’s champions, Ali “Myth” Kabbani and Darryle “Hamlinz” Hamlin of TSM, were eliminated by European squad Vikram “Vikkstar123” Barn and Tinny in the fourth round of the losers bracket.

Myth and Hamlinz ran through the entire losers bracket just seven days ago en route to an incredible 10-match winning streak, but they couldn’t recreate the same magic today after losing to TimTheTatman and Reaver.

The most popular player in the tournament, Ninja, also fell to the losers bracket rather early in today’s competition. Facing off against Daequan and CaMiLLs in the winners bracket semifinals, Ninja and Jack “CouRage” Dunlop were defeated, putting the popular duo in a tough position.

Ninja and CouRage are still alive in the tournament, but they’ll have an uphill battle to get to the grand finals to meet FaZe—they have to win three matches just to get out of the losers bracket.

Although the event is far from over, it looks like FaZe may be performing at their peak—and with a winners bracket advantage, it’ll be incredibly difficult for anyone to stop them in the grand finals.
