Today Day 3, Week 5 of the 2016 North American League Championship Series (NA LCS) Summer Split took place, featuring a multitude of exciting matches.
From Team SoloMid defeating Coounter Logic Gaming, to Phoenix1 finally winning, here is how the final day of Week 5 went down:
(10-0) Team SoloMid 2-0 Counter Logic Gaming (4-6)
Game 1: In the second matchup between TSM and CLG, the game was not even close. Frankly, TSM had their way with CLG all game. The entire TSM squad did well, but Player of The Game honors went to Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, who went 6/0/7 as LeBlanc.
Game 2: The second game was much like the first, except TSM did better. CLG showed some signs of their MSI form, but they fell back to their poor team-play and lost to TSM. The star of the game was TSM support Vincent “Biofrost” Wang, who went 1/0/13 as Karma.
(3-7) NRG Esports 2-0 Echo Fox (1-9)
Game 1: NRG found themselves leading throughout the entire game, giving EF little room to work with. In the 41-minute match, it was NRG jungler Lucas Tao “Santorin” Kilmer Larsen who shined the brightest, going 3/0/11 as Rek’Sai.
Game 2: In the second game, NRG found themselves with an early lead thanks to top laner Diego “Quas” Ruiz (6/1/3 as Jax) getting first blood. After that, it was a back-and-forth matchup that came down to a base race, which NRG ended up outsmarting and winning.
(1-9) Phoenix1 2-1 (4-5) Apex Gaming
Game 1: In the first match, Apex took the win thanks to superior teamfighting. The game was in P1’s favor until around 20 minutes, when Apex started out-farming and securing objectives over P1. The star of the game was Apex mid laner Jang “Keane” Lae-young, who went 3/0/9 as Karma.
Game 2: The second match was all for Apex to win, but 32 minutes in, P1 initiated a comeback that started with a Baron call, that led to objective control and eventually a win. P1 ADC Brandon “Mash” Phan did the best, going 9/0/3 as Lucian.
Game 3: For P1 to nab their first split win, a 20 minute ace and triple kill to Mash snowballed P1. After this, Apex did not have much of a chance to stop P1 from finally winning.
(9-1) Immortals 2-0 Cloud9 (6-4)
Game 1: The first match was close until Immortals was able to get Baron 21 minute in. After that, Immortals was able to push lanes and take objectives and eventually win the game.
Game 2: The second match was much more of a blowout. The team kills went 23-6 in favor of Immortals. The entire Immortals squad did well, but it was top laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoo, who went 6/2/13 as Irelia.
