Popular Twitch streamers Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek and Guy “DrDisRespect” Beahm will have their brands immortalized in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds with their own weapon skins very soon.
DrDisRespect made the announcement on Twitter this morning, days after issuing an ultimatum to PUBG Corp. that he would stop playing the game “for good” if the developer didn’t “put an elite Doc skin” into the game.
It appears that the ultimatum was all part of the show that is the DrDisRespect character. Doc’s red and black themed skins are for the Kar98k and M416, while Shroud’s are for the Kar98k and AKM. Both weapons feature the broadcaster’s own logos and color schemes.
It’s unclear when the skins will be available or how they will be made available. In the past, PUBG has mostly had skins available through loot crates. Some specific skins, like one for the frying pan or the parachute used at the beginning of matches, have been made available for direct purchase.
Either way, this is part of a very cool partnership between PUBG Corp. and two hugely popular entertainers who continue to play PUBG to this day. It sets an interesting precedent moving forward, as other personalities will undoubtedly look to have their own skins in-game.
DrDisRespect has previously been vocal about his dislike for PUBG in the past, and he has even been banned from the game for team-killing. His threat to quit had some worried he would switch full to Fortnite: Battle Royale, a game he has spent some time streaming recently. Instead, players will be able to sport his weapons in-game, and the Doc’s continued PUBG presence seems assured.
