KINGZONE DragonX’s mid-split resurgence continued earlier today with a promising 2-0 victory over Afreeca Freecs.
Just four days ago, KINGZONE jungler Han “Peanut” Wang-ho had one of his most unimpressive games of the summer in his team’s 2-0 loss to Griffin. Peanut was very slow to secure his early marks on the popular Kindred pick, and thus, he was largely invisible in the one game he was subbed in for.
Following KINGZONE’s loss to Griffin, though, Peanut saw a rise in form against KT Rolster. While it wasn’t crazy enough to earn him an MVP award, Peanut’s performance was actually impactful on the match’s favorable outcome.
But today, Peanut’s play wasn’t just impactful—it was extraordinary. Despite being on tanky junglers for both games today, Peanut led KINGZONE to victory through early ganks and pivotal mid-game engages.
Peanut’s successful three-minute gank in game one as Zac gave his bot lane an early lead that was only increased as the game progressed. This bot lane lead gave Peanut and KINGZONE enough pressure to take four Elemental Drakes, three of which were Infernal. Despite having insane engage potential as Zac, Peanut was reserved with his Elastic Slingshots in order to minimize risks. This decision by Peanut resulted in a clean victory where KINGZONE lost only two kills and two turrets.
Although game two wasn’t as clean of a win as the first one, Peanut continued to shine. On Sejuani, this time, Peanut made sure to hit his Glacial Prisons—and he was confident that his teammates would follow up. Peanut’s pinpoint accuracy culminated in a crucial catch onto Afreeca AD carry Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram, which let KINGZONE close out the series.
KINGZONE are now on a two-game win streak, and they’ll play their next match on July 31 against Hanwha Life Esports.
