Between the seemingly endless series of tournaments, player streams, and talk shows, esports fans have more content to watch now than ever before. Starting tonight, they’ll get to watching something entirely new for the scene: a dating show.
Fireside and Chill, a show in which 10 singles play Hearthstone together and try to find love, will debut on Twitch tonight.
The first episode will feature well-known esports personalities as they try to find their soulmates, including League of Legends pros Cristian “Cris” Rosales and Alex “Xpecial” Chu. Former Gamespot esports interviewer Travis Gafford also stars in the first episode, describing himself as “between jobs.”
“I just don’t really have time to meet anybody,” Gafford says when asked why he is currently single. “And the people I do meet tend to be 20-year old pro player dudes.”
Luckily this show gives a perfect avenue to lonely hearts like Gafford, and entertainment for the viewing public as well. And if that doesn’t do it for you, the show also boasts an adorable canine cast member.
Like most dating shows, once the on-camera dates are over, any of the singles can ask each other out for a further date. If the request is accepted, Esports Arena, the LA-based company behind the series, will send them on “a romantic second date” at Chapter One—the seventh best restaurant in Santa Ana according to Trip Advisor.
Esports Arena promises that “some hearts are broken and dreams are shattered, but perhaps a lucky few played their cards right and scored another round.”
The first 15 minutes of the episode is already available so you can decide in advance who you’ll be rooting for.
Fireside and Chill debuts on the Esports Arena Twitch channel at 10pm ET tonight.
