Gambit Gaming will be without regular mid laner Sebastian “niQ” Robak this week. Robak will be unable to compete in the League Championship Series (LCS) due to an undisclosed health issue.
The team will field Felix “Betsy” Edling, substitute mid for H2k Gaming, in his stead after the his team approved a transfer. Edling has been practicing with the team since Monday.
The move comes as no surprise after a Daily Dot report pegging Meet Your Makers mid Marcin “Kori” Wolski as a potential replacement for Robak two days ago, noting that Edling was a temporary solution as they pursued Wolski. The team responded by releasing a statement regarding Robak, revealing the player must travel home to receive medical attention for an undisclosed condition. However, the team stated that Robak’s condition was not “severe,” expecting him to return to the lineup in short order.
But for this week, at least, Edling will try to help Gambit Gaming build on a three-game winning streak.
“I would like to thank Gambit Gaming for this opportunity and am looking forward to playing in LCS this week,” Edling said. The player has played League since Season 1, scoring 600 points in Challenger last year when he started taking solo queue more seriously. While he’s tried out for teams like H2k Gaming, he has yet to appear on a stage as big as the LCS.
This could be Edling’s big break, or it could break Gambit Gaming’s win streak. The 3-5 team recovered from a poor early season with three straight wins, but Robak’s health could put the brakes on the surging team.
