The European League of Legends Championship Series quarterfinals are here, and the matchup between SK Gaming and Millenium is going to be one of the most important of the playoffs. SK and Millenium both had tremendous starts to the summer season, but over the course of the 11 weeks, slowly fell behind the leaders.
In the last four weeks, both had losing records. Now, they face a crossroads—and the loser of this match risks getting relegated from the LCS. Who can come out on top and secure their place in the top levels of competition?

On the surface, these teams are very even. Their KDAs and gold incomes are practically equal, and they even have a 6-6 record against each other. Their objective control stats trade back and forth, and there’s definitely no clear leader based on this season’s stats.
SK Gaming, however, do have a lead in one area—recent game history. They’ve won four of their last five, and one of those was against Millenium themselves. That kind of momentum is hard to stop, and SK might be able to swing it into an easy advance into the semifinals.
Critical in this matchup will be the marksmen for these teams, SK’s Adrian “Candy Panda” Wübbelmann and Millenium’s Jakub “Creaton” Grzegorzewski. Both players have had some high points this summer, but the edge appears to go to Grzegorzewski, who has a higher KDA.
In order to negate Millenium’s edge, SK will have to focus on strengthening the bottom lane. If SK can manage to keep Wübbelmann safe, they should be able to ride out their hot streak and make it into the next round of the playoffs.
