This potential mode could help explain Treyarch’s reported decision not to include a single-player campaign in Black Ops 4, according to Polygon. Although this report hasn’t been confirmed by Activision, it wouldn’t be the strangest decision. Battle royale titles have been all the rage lately in the gaming community, and Activision could be looking to build off the genre’s recent success.

Many Call of Duty fans would be curious to see how a battle royale mode in Black Ops 4 would compare with other similar titles like PUBG and Fortnite.

Just like the single-player campaign report, however, this battle royale rumor is unconfirmed at this time. Call of Duty fans will get their first taste of official Black Ops 4 information during the game’s community reveal event on May 17.

Black Ops 4’s official release date is Oct. 12.
