The Epic Games Public Status shows that matchmaking is operating in “degraded performance.” A note at the top of the page reads that some players were experiencing long queue times around 5:45 a.m. CT, which led Epic Games to disable the Fortnitemares event in Battle Royale at 7:44 a.m. CT until they find a fix for the issue.

Epic has not specified what part of the new event caused this matchmaking issue, but the problem was tagged as “identified” when they published the message that Fortnitemares was disabled.

It is not known at the moment if the matchmaking issues are solved, partially or completely, while the event is disabled.

The company has not mentioned when the maintenance might end. At time of publishing, every other Epic Games service was working normally.

Update Oct. 24 at 9:32 am CT: The Epic Games Public Status page shows that the matchmaking issues have been resolved at 9:11 am CT.
