Fortnite: Battle Royale players watched in awe as the well-anticipated rocket launch occurred earlier today at 12:30pm CT. But one person in particular wanted to take advantage of the once-in-a-lifetime event.

A player by the name of “Elemental_Ray” broke the Fortnite world record for most kills in a solo game by killing 48 other players. Those poor victims were taken down during the rocket launch because Elemental_Ray destroyed their sky ramp, which was collectively made at Wailing Woods specifically to watch the event.

A clip of the world record was posted to Reddit, but the thread was removed and locked because users were supposedly threatening and witch-hunting in the post.

It seems that the player used an explosive, like a C4, because the big sky ramp was destroyed in one fell swoop. By the end of it, they had 48 kills and was one of 20 players left alive. Ironically, Elemental_Ray also fell to their death via destroyed sky ramp shortly after the 48 kills were recorded.

The previous world record holder was Klaivert “Teeqzy” Dervishi of Millenium, who accrued 43 kills in a single game of Squads. His game went about as normally as any other match would go, besides the obviously insane gameplay that he displayed on foot.

Elemental_Ray has never won a solo game, despite having one duo victory and 10 squad game wins, according to Fortnitetracker.com. To Elemental_Ray, it probably wasn’t about the kills. It was about sending a message.
