One of the most coveted drops during Season of the Haunted in Destiny 2 was the CALUS Mini-Tool. It returned in style, leaning into the then-recent Funnelweb supremacy and bringing a Solar 900rpm SMG that most guardians wanted to chase.
If you want to get your hands on your own CALUS Mini-Tool, we’ve got all the info you need.
Can you get CALUS Mini-Tool in Lightfall in Destiny 2? Season of the Witch update
The release of Season of the Witch brought a somewhat easy path to finding a CALUS Mini-Tool—even if it’s not always available. Season 22 brought a rotating Exotic mission each week, with Presage (season 13), Vox Obscura (season 16), and Operation: Seraph’s Shield (season 19) returning.
Each of these missions got an overhauled loot pool. Presage can drop weapons from season 17, which includes the CALUS Mini-Tool. This means you can attempt to get a CALUS Mini-Tool whenever Presage is in rotation, provided you own either Beyond Light or Season of the Chosen. Each completion has a chance of dropping weapons and armor from the season 17 loot pool, which includes weapons from the seasonal activities and the Derelict Leviathan.
The addition of Deepsight Harmonizers also makes it a bit easier to get red-border versions of your CALUS Mini-Tool, since you can always use them to convert a copy of it into a Deepsight version. If you’re looking to craft your own, this might be the quickest way to do that.
Can I get CALUS Mini-Tool from Xûr or Banshee?
If you don’t have access to Presage (either because you don’t own the necessary content or because it’s not on rotation), there’s always a slim chance of getting it either from Banshee-44 in the Tower or Xûr in some spots in the Sol system.
Xûr enters the galaxy as a merchant every Friday, bringing in one Exotic weapon, an Exotic armor piece for each class, and an assortment of Legendary weapons that may or may not be available through regular means. This can include guns from older seasons.
While this is technically the same Xûr as the Dares of Eternity host, they are treated as two different vendors in-game. If you want to score some Exotics, you’ll have to look in the Tower, the Winding Cove (EDZ), or the Watcher’s Grave (Nessus) instead of in Eternity.
As the Tower Gunsmith, Banshee-44 might also have the weapon in his inventory if you’re in luck. He consistently sold rolls of the Judgment of Kelgorath glaive from season 19’s Heist Battlegrounds throughout Season of Defiance, and several older weapons also made an appearance throughout Season of the Deep.
Banshee-44’s inventory takes a bit to rotate, though, with two tabs that change both daily and weekly. Keeping tabs on his stock might pay off (especially because he’s so close to the Tower’s landing zone), but checking it regularly can be quite a bit of work.
Because of the irregular nature of both Xûr and Banshee’s inventories, we highly recommend farming Presage as your method of choice to get your Mini-Tool if you can. You’ll be less at the mercy of RNG since these two vendors can have dozens of guns in their stock, while Presage narrows down that pool to items from season 17 alone. And with how strong guardians have become since Season of the Chosen, taking down the Locus of Communion is a walk in the park these days).
