Capcom let 10 years pass since the release of the RPG Dragon’s Dogma in 2012 before giving fans information on the sequel. The 2022 announcement left fans pretty hyped as they’ve been wanting to play Dragon’s Dogma 2 for so long—and now, Capcom is revealing more details.

The original Dragon’s Dogma was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in May 2012. This was soon followed by an enhanced version of the game, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, in 2013, which has since made its way to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch over the last decade.

After seeing some Dragon’s Dogma 2 gameplay, many fans have only one question in mind: When will Capcom finally release Dragon’s Dogma 2? Fortunately, it looks like we’re not that far from a launch.

When does Dragon’s Dogma 2 release?

Capcom still hasn’t revealed Dragon’s Dogma 2’s release date. The developer, however, will host a Dragon’s Dogma 2 showcase on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 3am CT and perhaps we’ll learn the release date there.

This showcase will last 15 minutes and will be presented by Capcom’s director and producer Hideaki Itsuno and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, respectively. Capcom promised to deliver “brand new gameplay” in an “info-packed” livestream, so there’s a lot of hype for it.

While we don’t know what stage of development Dragon’s Dogma 2 is at, fans are hoping to play it sometime in the first semester of 2024. Many prospective players hope Capcom will answer this question in the Nov. 28 showcase.

During a PlayStation showcase in May, Capcom showed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be very similar to its 2012 predecessor, and later on, Capcom revealed Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be four times bigger than the original.

A lot of details such as the monsters you’ll come across in Dragon’s Dogma 2, how challenging it will be to explore the universe at night, and how the interaction with Pawns will work have already been teased by Dragon’s Dogma 2 Twitter account over the past few months, as you can see below.

In a recent interview with VGC in September, director Itsuno said GTA 5 was a source of inspiration for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and avoided comparisons with Baldur’s Gate 3, the RPG that set a new bar for the genre and will probably win a lot of awards this year, potentially even game of the year.
