As pledged by Dota 2 developer and publisher Valve, the Promise of Eminent Revival cosmetic loot box is now available for owners of the 2018 International Battle Pass.
The news was broken by Valve last night, through a post on the official Dota 2 blog. Unlike the Immortal treasure loot boxes, the Promise of Eminent Revival grants five items immediately upon opening, granting the owner access to each one without relying on luck.
The package itself contains Immortal-quality cosmetic items from previous iterations of The International, serving as a throwback to its history as a tournament. To differentiate them from existing International Immortals, though, the ones specifically from the Eminent Revival will have two styles. The first will make each one mirror the subterranean visual theme of TI8, while the second will give them an “upgraded” look, according to Valve.
Not everyone will be given their own Eminent Revival, however. Before receiving it, Battle Pass owners must reach Level 615. Without completing challenges and quests, getting to Level 615 involves investing as much as $260 in additional Battle Levels—assuming that users start with the base, Level 1 Battle Pass.
Clearly, receiving the Promise of Eminent Revival isn’t meant for casual players, or those that aren’t prepared to drop a boatload of cash in order to get to the goods. This might entice those that already have high-level Battle Passes to invest further, however—which in turn could bring the TI8 prize pool closer to breaking the previous record.
