Riot Games has transformed Augments into the main mechanic in Teamfight Tactics Set Eight, powering up individual champions.

Augments first appeared in Set Six and continued into Set Seven. With the release of Set Eight, Monsters Attack!, Augments will become a permanent mechanic in TFT. Primary mechanics may change with each Set and Mid-Set, as will some of the Augments. Each new TFT set going forward will always have Augments that complement or work directly with the main mechanic.

Players want Augments within TFT and the devs have answered, sharing that they “unlock endless possibilities from a game design perspective,” according to game design director Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer. Hero Augments were designed to create a superhero or supervillain within a TFT comp. The Hero Augment is the main mechanic within Set Eight, but they aren’t the only Augments within Monsters Attack!

What are TFT Set Eight Hero Augments?

Augments in past TFT sets have typically had a “blanket effect,” according to Mortdog. From supporting a specific trait through Crowns and Hearts to multi-tier and econ effects, Augments didn’t target specific champions. Hero Augments in Set Eight will.

Each TFT champion in Set Eight will have two Hero Augments designed specifically for them. This means that any unit within Monsters Attack! can become a carrier when buffed by a Hero Augment. One of the Hero Augments is a “carry” option while the other is either a “support” or “flex” option. There are a total of 170 non-Hero Augments in addition to the hero ones, with most remaining the same from previous TFT Sets (excluding Augments that were trait-specific).

What are all the new TFT Set Eight Hero Augments?

There are a total of 59 TFT Set Eight champions, and each has two Hero Augments. Carry Augments provide bonuses directly to the unit while flex and support Hero Augments benefit the team as a whole.

All 118 Hero Augments in Set Eight are located in our TFT champion guide, broken down by cost, abilities, and stats.

Evergreen Set Eight Augments

Over 160 regular Augments are included in TFT Set Eight. A full list of every evergreen Augment per tier can be found here.

How do I get a Hero Augment for my TFT champion?

Augments in Set Eight will still have an armory that shows up at Stages 2-1, 3-2, and 4-2. One of those Armories will showcase Hero Augments, replacing the normal Armory. The Hero Augments are only offered once per game, and the Armory in which they appear will change from game to game.

All players in a TFT Set Eight lobby will get offered the Hero Augment Armory at the same Stage. There are some games where players will not get offered a Hero Augment, although the chances of this occurring are low.

Hero Augment distribution table for Set Eight

Hero Augments can drop at either Stages 2-1, 3-2. 4-2, or not at all. The chance of getting a higher tier Hero Augment is less likely to occur than getting a lower cost champion Hero Augment, but there are upgrade chances built into the distribution system.

  • 30 percent chance of two-cost champions with a 15 percent chance to upgrade into a three-cost champion.

  • Five percent chance of a five-cost champion and no chance to upgrade.

All Hero Augment percent drop rates

Similar to past Augment tables, there are percentage rates at which players will get certain Augments at each tier or repetitive tiers. Set Eight adds TFT Hero Augments into the mix. Percentages of drops are broken down by getting a Hero Augment first, second, third, or not at all.
