All Security Drone locations in Destiny 2

Shooting 50 of them is a lot.

The mysterious yellow Security Drones have been making Destiny 2 players scratch their heads since the beginning of Season of the Seraph. Though these cryptic yellow balls were immune to all damage, the release of the Revision Zero Exotic pulse rifle gave fans an answer to the purpose of the devices—but also raised far more questions than it answered.

The triumphs page for Season of the Seraph shows 50 Security Drones spread out throughout Europa, the Moon, all three Heist Battlegrounds maps, and even the Seraph Station in Operation: Seraph’s Shield. Though immune to regular damage, shooting any of these yellow balls with Revision Zero destroys them and drops one or two Seraphic Umbral Energy. Shooting all 50 yellow Security Drones gives players a triumph and a sparrow. Perhaps more importantly, though, destroying all 50 floating yellow balls also opens a mysterious secret door in Operation: Seraph’s Shield, in the area where you take down Haroktha, Scourge of the Helium Drinkers (the Hive boss) for good.

Not all of these drones are available early on, though, even if you can bypass the lasers with some trickery such as Eager Edge, Titan shoulder charges, Icarus Dashes, or Blinks. Some of the yellow orbs in Operation: Seraph’s Shield require the Security Clearance upgrade from the Exo Frame to unlock. If you want to make a dent in the triumph or just want to know where to find all Security Drones, here’s where you can find all of these floating yellow balls across all destinations, based on our research and on information from content creators 360GameTV, FalloutPlays, and Kimber Prime.

Where to find all Security Drones (yellow balls) Operation: Seraph’s Shield in Destiny 2

Some of these Security Drones aren’t accessible through normal means if you don’t have the Security Clearance upgrade since they’re locked behind doors, though out-of-bounds techniques can do the trick. You’ll also need some subterfuge to bypass some of the traps.

To fly through the lasers guarding some of these drones, you can use a sword’s normal or heavy attack, as well as a Blink, a well-timed Icarus Dash, Titan melee abilities, Thruster, and even Thundercrash. The trick seems to be the timing, hitting the button just as your guardian is about to hit the laser. The Tactical Armor Exo Frame upgrade may also make it easier to soak up the damage from the lasers.

  1. Before entering the Seraph Bunker, make a right until you’re at the end of the platform. Jump down, then quickly turn around to find an opening nested on the platform. The drone should be inside a locked area. Requires the Security Clearance upgrade. You can backtrack by jumping into a foothold on the ice-covered rock across from you.
  2. After getting off the space elevator and picking up Scanner for the second time. To progress the mission, you’ll have to head inside the vents and come into a room where you have to hack a terminal. This drone is behind a doorway protected by lasers. Icarus Dash/Blink/Seismic Strike/Eager Edge past the laser, then look up at the ceiling to find a yellow ball waiting for you.
  3. After you deposit the Scanner augment in a room with a Servitor (the Engineering Sector), you’ll come out into another room that requires you to use the Scanner augment. This drone will be behind a locked door to the right of the room. Requires the Security Clearance upgrade.
  4. In the room leading to the burning puzzle just after the climbing room with several turrets, look to the right as soon as you walk in to spot a yellow ball below the catwalk with the stairs.
  5. After the burning puzzle, head through the doorway and look for a locked door on the right side of the room. This is the first room just after the puzzle, the one where you get Operator. Shooting this yellow ball requires the Security Clearance upgrade.
  6. In the Shrieker room after you receive the Operator buff, you’ll come up on a doorway protected by lasers on the other side of the room, behind the Shriekers. Skip past the lasers to find this drone.
  7. In a room with three turrets, where you get the Warsat Nexus Control Keycard. Look for a blocked vent on the right side of the area. This yellow ball requires the Security Clearance upgrade.
  8. On the first boss area, look for a locked door on the back left of the room, just to the left of the rally banner. Requires the Security Clearance upgrade.
  9. At the hangar at the end of the spacewalk section, look for a doorway protected by lasers on the left side. You can spot this yellow ball from outside, but there’s a glass panel blocking your fire. You’ll have to jump past the lasers to shoot this one.
  10. In the first room after getting the Suppressor augment, behind a locked door to the left. You can see this one through the glass pane nearby. Requires the Security Clearance upgrade.
  11. In the room where you inject the virus at the end of the mission, protected by a laser grid on the left side.
  12. In the room where you inject the virus at the end of the mission, behind a locked door to the right. This doorway is just opposite the laser room with the previous Security Drone, but it requires the Security Clearance upgrade to open.
