Destiny 2’s Season of the Seraph added the highly customizable Revision Zero pulse rifle to the mix, which drew the attention of players before the season even launched. Hours before Seraph hit the servers, the seasonal page showed Revision Zero would get “multiple catalysts,” the first weapon of its kind.
Revision Zero doesn’t exactly follow the same formula as the other craftable Exotics. While Osteo Striga’s catalyst requires players to level the weapon before applying it, Revision Zero’s catalysts are locked behind the Season of the Seraph storyline. Each of them gives one perk for Revision Zero, but they also let players upgrade the Hunter’s Trace intrinsic and unlock new perks and parts to slot into the weapon.
In addition to unlocking perks and parts, each improved intrinsic gives a bonus to Revision Zero’s stats, making the weapon even stronger as long as players put in the effort to keep it upgraded. Improving Revision Zero is no easy feat, though. Here’s how you can upgrade Revision Zero and its Hunter’s Trace Exotic.
How can I upgrade Revision Zero’s Hunter’s Trace intrinsic in Destiny 2?
Upgrading Revision Zero doesn’t rely on RNG, but it does take some effort. Players can upgrade Revision Zero and its Hunter’s Trace intrinsic by progressing in the Should You Choose to Accept It quest line, tied to the Season of the Seraph story and the More Than a Weapon quest line.
Should You Choose to Accept It was unlocked in week four of Season of the Seraph, a week after players obtained Revision Zero. Since then, players can upgrade Revision Zero and its intrinsic by following the two season quest lines: More Than A Weapon, which is the core of the story, and Should You Choose to Accept it, which focuses exclusively on upgrading Revision Zero. While Revision Zero already unlocks with the first level of Hunter’s Trace, players can upgrade the intrinsic after finishing Should You Choose to Accept It missions.
The two seasonal quests run in tandem with each other in Season of the Seraph. The Revision Zero-centric Should You Choose to Accept It only unlocks if you have enough progress in More Than a Weapon, meaning you’ll have to engage with the seasonal story before upgrading your Hunter’s Trace.
The quest line to upgrade the Hunter’s Trace intrinsic follows a simple (though time-consuming) formula. Players will have to clear an older story mission (either Operation: Archimedes or Operation: Diocles). After that’s done, they’ll head to a destination and clear enough enemies to unlock a Häkke Dead Drop hidden in one of the Lost Sectors in that area. Then they will have to hunt down a Dead Exo located in Operation: Seraph’s Shield on Legend difficulty. The end of the mission will give players both the corresponding catalyst and upgrade the Hunter’s Trace intrinsic.
Here are all the missions in the quest line and their rewards:
- Should You Choose to Accept It, Part One: Frenzy Refit (Feeding Frenzy), barrel options, Hunter’s Trace II upgrade. Unlocked after More Than a Weapon step 32.
- Should You Choose to Accept It, Part Two: Pressurized Refit (Under Pressure), perk choices, and Hunter’s Trace III upgrade. Unlocked after More Than a Weapon step 39.
- Should You Choose to Accept It, Part Three: Outlaw Refit (Outlaw), stock choices, Hunter’s Trace IV upgrade. Unlocked after More Than a Weapon step 46.
- Should You Choose to Accept It, Part Four: Four-Timer Refit (Fourth Time’s The Charm). Unlocked after More Than a Weapon step 53.
