Cloud9 has announced its academy roster through a goofy introduction video that resembles the sitcom Full House.
The academy roster includes Ziqing “League” Zhao, Raymond “Wiggily” Griffin, Greyson “Goldenglue” Gilmer, Yuri “Keith” Jew, and Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam. With no new coach revealed in the video, it is unknown if Cloud9 will get another coach for its academy team, or if Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu will lead the new squad along with the main roster.
Cloud9’s academy team features talent from the NA LCS, NA CS, as well as a player with no professional experience in top laner, League. Keith and Goldenglue spent the 2017 season playing in the NA LCS for Echo Fox and Team Liquid respectively. Wiggly and Zeyzal were a part of the challenger scene for the entirety of 2017, on Tempo Storm and Eunited respectively.
The introduction video brings up the question of Marcin “SELFIE” Wolski’s whereabouts. Announced to have joined Cloud9 almost a month ago, SELFIE was assumed by many to be the mid laner for Cloud9’s academy roster. But with Goldenglue’s appearance, it seems that SELFIE may be bound for another team.
