Shotgun fans were in their glory in the early days of season two of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
One of five new weapons that joined the game in the wintry season was a shotgun, and it’s devastating to deal with at close range. It’s a perfect addition to the game, especially for the small-scale Ashika Island Warzone 2 map, and it’s called the KV Broadside.
“Bringing the power of the 12 gauge to the Kastov Platform, the KV Broadside is the fastest-firing semi-auto firearm in the shotgun class,” Activision’s description of the gun said. “Destroys targets at close range with impunity.”
By description alone, the KV Broadside was known to be a menace on small maps, especially Shipment and Shoot House in MW2 multiplayer. Once it’s leveled up, it’s way more powerful, but it needs to be unlocked first.

During season two, the KV Broadside became such a problem that it needed to be nerfed in a midseason patch. It’s not as problematic as it once was, but it’s still quite a strong weapon in close range fights.

How to unlock the KV Broadside in MW2 and Warzone 2
Season two’s new shotgun was part of the battle pass, meaning that it was unlocked for free simply by playing MW2 or Warzone 2. Players only needed some unlock tokens, but once they leveled up through the pass to unlock the appropriate node, the KV Broadside was theirs for the taking.
The KV Broadside was rather easily unlocked in season two. It was done by navigating the nodes in the battle pass, but now that the battle pass is gone, there’s a new in-game challenge to unlock the powerful shotty.
Here’s what you need to do to unlock the KV Broadside in MW2 and Warzone 2:
- Get 10 one-shot kills with Shotguns.
- Extract the KV Broadside successfully in DMZ.
Once you’ve completed one of the requirements above, the KV Broadside will be yours to use and level up in MW2, Warzone 2, and DMZ.
