In Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7, Retribution Paladins, who struggled to stay competitive in the DPS department at the beginning of the expansion, received a major rework. This has, of course, left many classes green with envy and hoping their class will be next in line for a rework, but we won’t see any additional major reworks during Dragonflight.
On March 20, World of Warcraft’s game director Ion Hazzikostas shut down all hopes of further major class reworks in a group interview. According to the game director, the level of rework Retribution Paladins received is not something other classes and specs can look forward to in Dragonflight. Retribution Paladins were an exception since they are the only DPS Paladin specialization and Blizzard is committed to making it “solid.”
That being said, Hazzikostas promised additional balancing changes to go with Patch 10.0.7 and didn’t exclude the option of class changes. They, however, might not be as extensive.
We still have a Shadow Priest rework and other balancing changes to look forward to in Patch 10.1, but you can’t expect to see any other class overhauls. Over the course of the expansion, Blizzard will continue to work on class balance and pick up the pace when a new season releases. This means you’ll still enjoy class balancing, but you won’t see any major reworks in the era of Dragonflight.
