Litten is one of the three starter Pokémon from Generation VII, meaning it represents the fiery passion of the Alola region. And, while this Pokémon prefers solitude to crowded areas, it’s available to catch in Pokémon Go—though Shiny hunters might be out of luck.
In addition to its fellow Generation VII starters, Litten was originally added to the game on March 1, 2022. Starters are some of the most sought-after Pokémon in any Pokémon game, so naturally, there are several trainers that want to grab the soon-to-be wrestler with its Shiny color scheme that swaps out its black fur for white fur.
Can you catch Shiny Litten in Pokémon Go?
Just like with other Starter Pokémon, it took some time, but Shiny Litten is available in Pokémon Go. That also means Shiny Torracat and Incineroar are obtainable too.
For certain species of Pokémon, Niantic holds its Shiny variants back for specific events, which is most often true for rare or Starter Pokémon making their debut because they always draw attention. This is done so the developers can essentially re-release a Pokémon as a featured event encounter with an extra twist to boost interest in events, even if the game’s Shiny odds are still a mystery and never a guarantee.
As of March 16 and the Litten Community Day event, Litten can be encountered as a Shiny if you’re lucky. The same happened with Rowlet in January 2024 and this pattern will likely continue with other Starter Pokémon in the future.
