World bosses are waiting for you.

One of the most challenging tasks in Diablo 4 is defeating the world bosses—and tracking them down is not easy. World bosses come with varying difficulty but, when defeated, hand out significant rewards that can significantly boost your character build. This makes them pretty vital when grinding out levels and upgrades.

Farming world bosses is not overly easy either because they can spawn in a variety of locations and at set times, meaning you can’t just reset and farm repeatedly.

Here’s everything to know about finding and defeat these powerful Diablo 4 bosses.

Diablo 4 world boss spawn times and locations

Diablo 4 has three world bosses: Ashava the Pestilent, Avarice the Gold Cursed, and the Wandering Death, Death Given Life, and each of these world bosses has a chance of spawning in the following five locations:

  1. Hawezar: The Fields of Desecration.
    • The closest waypoint is in Vyeresz (you’ll need to complete the stronghold to access it).
  2. Kehjistan: Seared Basin.
    • The closest waypoint is in Jirandai in the Untamed Scarps.
  3. Dry Steppes: Saraan Caldera.
    • The closest waypoint is the Ruins of Qara Yisu in Qara Yisu.
  4. Fractured Peaks: The Crucible.
    • The closest waypoint is the Bear Tribe Refuge in the Seat of the Heavens.
  5. Scolsglen: Caen Adar.
    • The closest waypoint is Corbach in the Strand.

You will receive a notification at least 30 minutes before any particular Diablo 4 world boss spawns. A marker appears on your map in one of the five locations above, showing you where the next world boss will spawn.

Previously, the boss spawn time was every six hours. However, in Patch 1.2.0, this spawn time was reduced to 3.5 hours, which means in a single day, you have six chances of participating in a world boss battle—that is, if you’ve unlocked the world boss.

How to unlock world bosses in Diablo 4

World bosses in Diablo 4 will only spawn once you have completed the main campaign and have unlocked the Whispers of the Dead. Once you’ve done that, you can take on the World Boss when it spawns. In Season Five, these bosses are more resilient. So, we won’t be able to one-shot it as soon as it spawns like in Season Four.

Blizzard has yet to release an official schedule for the world bosses, so we still don’t precisely know which of the three will spawn. You can use World Boss trackers to give you a rough idea of when and who might be spawning, like this one from WoWhead. As these aren’t native trackers, they may not be 100 percent accurate on which boss will spawn or the exact spawn times. But I find they’re great to use as guides.

So, if you were wondering when the world bosses will spawn, this is everything you need to know about their spawn times and locations in Diablo 4.
