The North American League of Legends Championship Series is gearing up to hold its first player draft at the upcoming Scouting Grounds tournament.
This year’s Scouting Grounds will feature the four highest ranked solo queue players of the five in-game roles, who haven’t played professionally. These 20 players will be divided into four teams, and coached by one of the 10 NA LCS teams. The names of the 20 players attending will be revealed next week, Riot Games confirmed earlier today.
Like last year’s Scouting Grounds, these four teams will face off in a round robin tournament, with the finals and third-place match broadcast live for fans to watch.
Following the tournament, the 20 Scouting Grounds participants will be up for grabs for NA LCS teams to pick up. Riot Games will be hosting a draft for these players, where the NA LCS teams that choose to participate can pick up one of these fledgling stars.
Once the draft concludes, participating NA LCS teams will have 21 days to officially sign the players they picked onto their official roster. Players chosen won’t be forced to join the team they were drafted to, and can look for other opportunities after the 21-day period concludes.
The 2017 Scouting Grounds tournament is set to start on Nov. 26, and will run until Dec. 3.
