One of the most highly-anticipated game modes still hasn’t been added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
League Play, the fan-favorite ranked mode from previous Black Ops titles, is set to return to Black Ops 4. The mode was originally announced during the Black Ops 4 reveal stream on May 17, but fans have been left waiting for it to actually join the game.
When Black Ops 4 was officially launched on Oct. 12, many fans were disappointed that League Play wasn’t immediately a part of the game. Treyarch then revealed that the competitive playlist likely wouldn’t be added to the game until December.
But then, in December, Treyarch announced that the launch of League Play would be delayed until 2019. The developers made this decision in an effort to give the feature the “polish that our competitive players expect and deserve.”
Earlier this month, Treyarch took to Reddit and said that League Play will be added to Black Ops 4 by the end of January. Although there’s no confirmed date yet, there are only five days left in the month—so League Play should be coming soon.
In another Reddit post on Jan. 25, Treyarch said that it’ll have an announcement about League Play next week. “We’ve made some fundamental changes to Black Ops 4’s Ranked system since we first announced our plans, as well as numerous important updates to the CWL ruleset that will change how the game is played competitively for the better,” Treyarch said. “Stay tuned for more intel soon.”
On Jan. 29, Treyarch said that “the launch of the World League Hub and League Play is now slated for our next major game update planned for mid-February, first on PS4.”
Update Feb. 15 10pm CT: Treyarch confirmed today that League Play will be added to Black Ops 4, first on PS4, on Feb. 21
