Well, Apex Legends fans, we hope you’re ready for the Wild Frontier. The long-awaited Battle Pass is finally dropping on Tuesday, March 19. This comes after a whole month of rumors and speculation about when the Battle Pass was releasing and what’s coming with it. Now, let’s first take a quick look at what’s being provided with the season one Battle Pass.
Twenty of the rewards are level banner badges, which are given every five levels. You also get nine intro quips, nine seasonal stat trackers, six rare-tier banners, and several XP boosts. As for skins, it looks like Battle Pass holders will get 20 rare-level weapon skins, an epic skin for the Prowler at level 51, and a legendary skin for the Havoc at level 100. You also unlock a basic Octane skin at level 48, on top of the three Legends skins you get by purchasing the pass.
You also unlock five regular Apex packs throughout the 100 levels, with an epic Apex pack at level 26, and a legendary Apex pack at level 86. These presumably contain a guaranteed item at its specified rarity, which is a nice addition to the rewards. You can also earn 14 Apex Coin drops, which all amount to 1,000 Apex Coins if you grind to level 100. This means that if you save the coins you earn in this Battle Pass, you’ll have enough to buy the next pass when it drops in June.
Unfortunately, the community has had mixed feelings surrounding the Battle Pass, with multiple threads on the game’s subreddit complaining about the lack of content with the pass. Even on the official Respawn-run subreddit post, people are saying that the rewards are pretty underwhelming. The game’s new legend, Octane, is not even included in the Battle Pass either, which is pretty disappointing to fans.
Ultimately, the Battle Pass doesn’t really give too much in terms of new, exciting content and doesn’t really incentivize players to grind hard for 100 levels. The weapon skins are all pretty bland, except for the Havoc skin at level 100, and the character skins that are given to you aren’t that great either.
It would have been nice if Respawn included a few new finisher animations, epic banner frames, or better-looking weapon skins. There aren’t even any new legendary character skins being given with the Battle Pass, either.
For $10, you do get enough content to justify the price point, especially for a free-to-play game. But if you’re looking for a bunch of fresh content, then you might want to skip Apex’s first Battle Pass. In fact, even if you don’t buy the pass, you still get a Wild Frontier Legend skin, five Apex Packs, and 18 Wild Frontier stat trackers for playing during season one.
Even with all of this disappointment in the air, the Battle Pass hasn’t even released yet. There could be many hidden things that Respawn hasn’t revealed, so there’s still some hope for prospective Battle Pass buyers. We’ll need to see how extensive this pass gets once it drops on Tuesday, March 19 at 12pm CT.
