Apex Legends features crossplay, which allows players from different platforms to party up and play against each other. Besides acting as a convenience factor for players who want to join up with their friends on a different console or on PC, crossplay also shortens queue times across the board, preventing players from waiting too long to find a match.
Why turn off Apex Legends crossplay?
Apex‘s iteration of crossplay hasn’t been without controversy. Many have sneered at the “aim assist” that console players receive to keep up with the precision of keyboard-and-mouse PC players.
While crossplay can be useful if you’re playing with people you know, you may want to turn it off while playing solo. Turning it off will allow you to play against players who are using the same console platform as yourself. (Note that if your squad includes only console players, you’ll be matched against other console players; if you have at least one PC player, you’ll be matched against a mix of console and PC players, even if you turn off crossplay.) PC players can’t turn off crossplay.

If you’d rather be matched only against players on the same console as you, here’s how to disable crossplay in Apex.
How to disable crossplay in Apex Legends
- First, log into Apex and navigate to the main menu.
- Go to the Settings panel by selecting the cog icon on the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Select the “Gameplay” tab at the top of the screen.
- Scroll down until you see the option labeled “Cross Platform Play.”
- Choose “Disabled.”
Doing so will turn off crossplay. Make sure to select Apply Settings before leaving the Settings page.

The change will take effect in your next match, and you can turn it back on any time you want. Remember that turning off the crossplay feature with a PC player in your squad won’t have any effect: Because you’re queueing with a PC player, you’ll be matched against a mix of PC and console players, even if you have crossplay turned off.
Good luck out there, legends.
