Luminosity Gaming has signed a roster to compete in Apex Legends, bringing in some familiar faces for fans of the organization.
Justin “Yogi” Desse and Hogne “Chipzy” Krogsæther, former H1Z1 players for Luminosity, have been recruited alongside Derek “Sloth” Diaz.
“Adding Chipzy, Yogi, and Sloth is incredibly exciting for us,” said Luminosity president Steve Maida. “Entering into Apex Legends was a priority, and our goal was to bring the best in the game into the Luminosity family. That’s exactly what we’ve done.”
The state of Apex Legends‘ competitive scene has been questioned as of late as Respawn’s title is yet to have its own official esports circuit. Ghost Gaming decided to withdraw its presence from the game on May 9, citing “disbelief in the game’s success as an esport.”
A host of organizations still field rosters in Apex Legends, but with Ghost Gaming pulling out, as well as the decline in viewership on Twitch, it’s possible that others could follow suit if things don’t improve in the near future.
For now, though, it seems like Luminosity believes in the title enough to recruit serious talent from the world of battle royale.
