There’s plenty to find off the beaten path in Black Myth: Wukong, like chests, stat-boosting Celestial Pills, and Meditation Spots. When you rest at a Meditation Spot, you regenerate your health, mana, and healing Gourd, reset your cooldowns, and gain an Ability Point.
Getting a free Ability Point is essentially the same as getting a free level-up, so finding every Meditation Spot is key to reaching your full potential. To make matters easier, as soon as you’ve found one Meditation Spot in a chapter, Black Myth: Wukong tells you exactly how many more you need. They’re often easily missable, though, especially in Chapter Two and on—if you want to find them all, this comprehensive guide’s here to help.
This guide is a work in progress and currently contains every Meditation Spot from Black Myth: Wukong’s first two chapters. We’ll continue adding Meditation Spots as we find them in our playthrough, so stay tuned.
All Meditation Spots in Black Myth Wukong
Chapter One – Black Wind Mountain
1) The Arbor, Forest of Wolves (Front Hills)
After you beat the Bullguard, Black Myth: Wukong’s first major boss, continue onward, past the river, and up the hill. At the top, you can either head left and through a crack in the cliff wall (marked by two burning torches) to reach the Outside the Forest Shrine, or turn right, and you’ll see your first Meditation Spot underneath a wooden gate with a grassy roof. There’s a gorgeous vista ahead, so sit down and relax to get your first free Ability Point.
2) The Cavern, Bamboo Grove (Back Hills)
Starting at the Bamboo Hill Shrine, continue down the steps. You’ll reach a fork in the road with a stone pillar in the middle. Turn left. You’ll enter a cave, and inside, there’s a horse NPC who you can talk to. Make sure to exhaust his dialog. There’s a Meditation Spot in this cave, in front of a small shrine with burning incense.
3) The Cliff, Black Wind Cave (Marsh of White Mist)
From the Marsh of White Mist Shrine, proceed down the rickety wooden platforms. On your left, there’s a small enclosure housing small chest containing a Celestial Pill, and on the right, you’ll find Shen Monkey, who upgrades your healing Gourds. Head past Shen Monkey and down the sloped platforms until you reach a shallow lake at the bottom. Proceed over the lake and go straight ahead, through the gate, through the dark cave, and past the dead tree in the middle. You’ll emerge in another outdoor area.
On the left, there’s a boardwalk overlooking a gorgeous view of the craggy hills surrounding Black Wind Mountain. Head down the boardwalk, and on the left, you’ll find Chapter One’s third and final meditation spot. Alternatively, you can backtrack from the Black Wind Cave – Cave Interior Shrine to get here.
Chapter Two – Yellow Wind Gorge
1) The Altar, Sandgate Village (Village Entrance)
From the start of Chapter Two, head over the shallow lake and follow the uphill path to the left to reach the first Shrine in Chapter Two: Village Entrance. From the Shrine, veer immediately left and head through the narrow passage between two cliff walls. You’ll emerge on a stone platform overlooking a murky brown lake, with a giant Frog boss wandering around: Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw.
Jump down to the lake, beat the Frog, then head up the wooden stairs. Instead of proceeding all the way to the top, instead veer off to the right, and you’ll find a hidden plateau with a small shrine and a Meditation Spot in front of it.
2) The Ravine, Rock Crash Platform (Fright Cliff)
After beating the Stone Vanguard near Rockrest Shrine, proceed ahead through the broken gate. You’ll find another Shrine, Rock Clash Platform, on the other side. From the Shrine, head down the cobbled street, then down the steps. At the end, there’s a Meditation Spot overlooking the sandy valley below.
3) The Sculpture, Crouching Tiger Temple (Temple Entrance)
From the Temple Entrance Shrine, head up the steps and toward the temple—but instead of heading into the boss fight against the Tiger Vanguard, go left. You’ll find another Meditation Spot in a small alcove in front of a stone sculpture.
4) The Deadwood, Rockrest Flat (Fright Cliff)
From the Rockrest Flat Shrine, proceed forward and continue in a straight line until you reach a path that’s somewhat “blocked” by a shoddy wooden fence. Dash through the fence to break it, and you’ll emerge in an open area with a drunken boar NPC who asks you to “find something to help [him] sober up.” Proceed past the drunkard, and you’ll find another Meditation Spot beneath a warped, twisted tree.
5) The Grotto, Yellow Wind Formation (Windseal Gate)
Starting at the Windseal Gate Shrine, open the gate using the Keenness of Tiger key item that drops from the Tiger Vanguard in Crouching Tiger Temple. Proceed through the gate and you’ll emerge in a large, open, sandy valley. You can head right and down the valley to reach the final boss of the area, the Yellow Wind Sage, forward to reach the Cellar beneath Crouching Tiger Temple (where you encounter Xu Dog again), or left to reach a dead end with an inscribed stone tablet at the back.
At the rear of the enclosed area, you’ll meet a scholarly NPC inspecting the stone tablet. He spouts some confusing lore exposition, and in front of him, there’s another Meditation Spot.
Alternatively, you can proceed through Crouching Tiger Temple Cellar by using the Keenness of Tiger at the Tally Statue in the Tiger Vanguard’s bloody boss arena. This drains the blood to reveal a downward staircase. After heading through a short underground section, you’ll slide down a sand hill and emerge by the Cellar Shrine. From here, turn right and head up the valley to reach the stone tablet and Meditation spot.
6) The Rock, Sandgate Bound (Secret: Kingdom of Sāhāli)
The final Meditation Spot in Chapter Two is in a secret area only accessible by progressing the drunken boar NPC‘s questline. After freeing the Man-in-Stone merchant in Squall Hideout (by defeating the Stone Mother boss in this area), buy the Sobering Stone item and return it to the drunken boar. Then, kill the First Prince of Flowing Sands in the cave in Sandgate Village, shortly after the Valley of Despair Shrine. He drops the Arhat Gold Piece; an important key item the drunken boar is looking for.
Finally, head back to where you first met the drunken boar, just after the Rockrest Flat Shrine. He’ll be hostile and ready for a fight because you have his brother’s gold. After beating him, he throws in the towel and opens the previously non-interactive door at the top of the steps in this area.
Behind the door is a new, hidden region—the Kingdom of Sāhāli. You face the Tiger Vanguard again here, but you should find him easier than the first encounter. Beat him, then proceed through the gate and you’ll reach a large, open, sandy area. Veer left and head across the upper dunes, and you’ll find Chapter Two’s last Meditation Spot on a stone platform overlooking the sands below.
