BIG Esports has revealed that it will be kicking off high school boot camps in partnership with Hoyts, PLE Computers, and Corsair.
The boot camp aims to educate parents and children on the positive impacts of gaming. The first boot camp will be held at Hoyts Chadstone in Melbourne, Victoria on Dec. 15. This one-day event will include presentations and practical exercises on topics covering gaming education by Athletico Esports, understanding hardware with tech store, PLE Computers and Corsair, health and well being with Gold Coast based fitness company, Jandaplex, and a parent’s guide to gaming with Flaktest Gaming.
“We are very proud to announce our first boot camp event. BIG Esports has a focus on uplifting and educating the industry,” said BIG Esports events specialist Eranga De Silva. “We’re thankful to have partners who share this view with us. This project is important to me because I didn’t have information or opportunities like this available or accessible when I was in school. Educating children and parents will help us grow the industry from the ground up and also helps add some legitimacy as a possible career path.”
Australia has been pushing the envelope in terms of development—only recently, Queensland University of Technology announced scholarships for its esports program—and this announcement from BIG is another step in the right direction to further educate people on the growing industry.
