FaZe Clan owner Richard “Banks” Bengtson admitted the first contract for Fortnite pro Turner “Tfue” Tenney wasn’t great.
“Obviously Turner’s initial contract was horrible,” Banks wrote. “But over the last year, we have offered him so many new ones, solutions. Zero percent splits. Honest and more than fair ways to solve the issue.”

Tfue is suing FaZe Clan for what his lawyers call an “oppressive” contract. The contract limits his sponsorship deals to those brought by the team and takes from 50 to 80 percent of the payments from these. Tfue would be forbidden to sign with any sponsors without FaZe approving them, even if they were for his personal Twitch and YouTube channels. This has reportedly forced Tfue to give up on a deal with HyperX since it implied a conflict of interest with one of FaZe’s sponsors.
Tfue’s contract, which was released today, also shows FaZe could take 20 percent of his tournament earnings. Despite these conditions, Banks wrote that “nobody on this planet wanted [Tfue] to sign a new healthy contract” more than he did. He’ll also reveal all other contracts he and FaZe offered to Tfue, which the player has reportedly refused to sign.
Banks wrote those in response to the video Tfue published yesterday on his YouTube channel, in which he says he’s suing his team to “serve justice” to the esports community. Banks doesn’t think so.
“Turner isn’t some martyr for the greater good, he’s a selfish asshole who doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but himself,” Banks wrote. “If this is all about the community and standing up for what’s right, why wasn’t that highlighted in his initial press release?”
