The Sidewinder was widely considered one of the worst weapons in Warzone, but a Conversion Kit finally makes the Battle Rifle an interesting option.
Even with constant weapon balancing updates, there are always guns that stand out as must-use options and others you would never consider picking up. When Warzone first launched, the Sidewinder found itself on the wrong side of community sentiment.
Players loathed the battle rifle so much that Raven Software removed the Sidewinder from Gulag matches after community members labeled it the worst gun in the battle royale. Season One Reloaded finally slightly saves the unpopular weapon with a Conversion Kit.
Here’s what we think is the best set of attachments to use in the best Sidewinder loadout for Warzone.
Best Sidewinder loadout in Warzone 3
The Sidewinder is one of the most challenging guns to use in MW3 and Warzone, thanks to its weak range, slow fire rate, and awful recoil. Season One Reloaded slightly repairs that issue with the JAK Thunder LMG Kit, which transforms the Battle Rifle into an LMG.
The JAK Thunder LMG Kit increases the Sidewinder’s ammo count to 50 and fires faster the longer you hold down the trigger. The massive damage and handling downgrades make the Sidewinder still less than desirable, but the increased damage range and rate of fire make it the best we can get from this weapon.
Best Sidewinder build in Warzone
- Muzzle: VT-7 Spitfire Suppressor L
- Barrel: Tempus Predator Precision Barrel
- Optic: Corio Eagleseye 2.5x
- Ammunition: 450 Huntsman High Velocity
- Conversion Kit: JAK Thunder LMG Kit
The JAK Thunder LMG Kit increases the effective damage range by 33 percent and the minimum damage range by 24 percent. we designed this loadout to lean into that long-range capabilities and compensate for some of the tradeoffs from the Conversion Kit.
The VT-7 Spitfire Suppressor L and Tempus Predator Precision Barrel increase recoil control, bullet velocity, and damage range.
The Sidewinder doesn’t have many strengths, especially compared to the myriad of better options in Warzone’s long-range meta, but this loadout makes it useable.
Along the same line of thinking, 450 Huntsman High Velocity ammunition increases the Sidewinder’s fire rate from 667 meters per second to 801. And finally, it’s worth noting that the Conversion kit makes it impossible to add more ammunition, so players will have to be careful with the increased rate of fire mechanic.
Best Sidewinder perks and equipment in Warzone
- Perk Package
- Perk One: Double Time
- Perk Two: Tac Mask
- Perk Three: Tempered
- Perk Four: Ghost or High Alert
- Secondary weapon: WSP Swarm or Striker
- Lethal: Semtex
- Tactical: Smoke Grenade
This is my favorite perk package, period, to use in Warzone. Double Time and Tac Mask are great for keeping me mobile, Tempered reduces the need for three plates to two, and Ghost keeps me off of the enemy radar when a UAV is up, but High Alert is just as useful for notifying me when an enemy has me in their sights.
The Sidewinder also has poor Mobility among its many other ills, so make sure to carry a good, mobile SMG like the WSP Swarm, Striker, or any other of our best SMGs that we have listed below when it comes to Warzone. Swap to it when it’s time to run, and then post up with your Sidewinder and hope for the wind to blow your way and get a couple of kills with it.
In the end, though, you’ll likely find your way back to one of the best LMGs in Warzone when it comes to choosing a long-range option for battle royale modes. At least, that is, until the Sidewinder gets a much-needed buff sometime in 2024.
