Sometimes, a Call of Duty match just needs a few extra bullets. And when I say a few, what I really mean is dozens more than normal.

That’s what light machine guns are for. And in Black Ops 6, one of the LMGs on offer is the XMG, which is the LMG version of the XM4 assault rifle, one of the better guns in the game. The XMG brings more firepower and rounds to the table than the XM4, and sometimes, that’s exactly what the squad could use.

Here’s our pick for the best XMG attachments in BO6 multiplayer.

Given BO6’s emphasis on omnimovement, an LMG is tough to recommend against fast-moving SMGs or ARs at this point in time. But fans of large magazines have an ally in the XMG, a hard-hitting machine gun that can take down an entire squad if you hit your shots.

Best XMG build in BO6

  • Muzzle: Muzzle Brake
  • Barrel: Gain-Twist Barrel
  • Rear Grip: Quickdraw Grip
  • Stock: Infiltrator Stock
  • Fire Mods: 7.62 Overpressured

The main draw for the XMG in BO6 is its 100-round belt-fed magazine. Otherwise, it’s cumbersome, has a slow fire rate, and will get you killed more often than not if you try to play the game like you’re using an SMG.

Your best bet with an LMG in BO6 is to find a nice spot to mount on and survey the battlefield as your teammates run around capturing objectives. This is a really solid build for Team Deathmatch or Kill Confirmed kill-farmers who want to rack up the numbers while watching a sightline.

These attachments will help out your Mobility a little bit, but don’t try and go face-to-face with someone who has an XM4 or Jackal PDW up close on an objective. Pick up your kills from a distance, and consider swapping out the Fire Mods attachment for your favorite Optic instead.

Best XMG class setup in BO6

Perks and class setup

  • Perk one: Flak Jacket
  • Perk two: Dispatcher
  • Perk three: Guardian
  • Perk four: Gung-Ho
  • Wildcard: Perk Greed
  • Specialty: Strategist

Equipment

  • Secondary: Cigma 2B
  • Melee: Knife
  • Tactical: Concussion
  • Lethal: Semtex
  • Field Upgrade: Trophy System

Scorestreaks

  • UAV
  • Counter UAV
  • Hellstorm

The Strategist Specialty is fun to use in BO6 for its ability to rack up easy score while you pick up kills. It rewards the destruction of air support, too, so bring along the Cigma 2B to shoot down anything the enemy manages to call in for some big score bonuses.

The Trophy System is a big addition, too, because you can deploy it right next to your position to prevent the enemy from raining explosives on you. And they absolutely will once you kill them a bunch of times with this massive cannon.
