It’s that time of year again: the $1 million Call of Duty Championship tournament is right around the corner! The event is presented by Activision, Sledgehammer, and Xbox in partnership with Major League Gaming. 32 teams from around the world will be in attendance. Teams will earn the opportunity to play after qualifying in site specific online qualifiers, hosted by MLG.
The event will be in Los Angeles, California from March 27-29th. According to this years rules, 14 teams from the United States will qualify for CoD Champs. To qualify, two online tournaments will take place. Each tournament features a 512-team bracket, and the top 16 teams qualify for the North America Regional Finals (which includes Canada).
A few of the rules stirred up some controversy in the CoD community. MLG states that participants must be 18 years of age by January 17th, 2015 in order to be eligible for the tournament. Not everyone was pleased.

Spacely is not the only player hurting from these rules, which didn’t seem to be the same as previous CoD Champs. Other pro players will not be 18 by the deadline, so roster shake-ups are bound to happen. In fact, they have already begun.

Merk says it best: there will be roster changes galore. All respectable organizations are looking to find a team, and all teams are looking to find an organization to help with finances. No matter what, CoD Champs is the biggest tournament of the year and everybody wants a piece of the $1 million prize pool.
