One of the most popular titles in the Call of Duty franchise is reportedly set to be remastered—but with a shocking twist.

If Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is coming, it’ll be a campaign-only version of the game with no multiplayer, according to Charlie Intel.

Rumors about this potential remake started circulating earlier this month when IGN found Amazon Italy listings for MW2 Remastered on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. These listings were quickly taken down by Amazon Italy, but fans still saw the €19.99 ($25) price tag and potential April 30 release date.

This rumored price does coincide with the concept of a campaign-only remastered version, however. Call of Duty titles generally start at $60 when they’re first released, and Modern Warfare Remastered cost $40 when it became available as a stand-alone game in 2017.

Modern Warfare Remastered, however, featured both multiplayer and campaign—so it’d make sense that MW2 Remastered would be cheaper if it only includes the story mode.

Charlie Intel also reported that Raven Software—the developer of Modern Warfare Remastered—won’t be developing MW2 Remastered.

Although Activision hasn’t confirmed any reports of MW2 Remastered, many fans of the franchise are devastated that one of the best Call of Duty multiplayer experiences might not be remastered after all.
