There’s only one week left in the regular season of Stage Two of the Call of Duty World League Global Pro League—and many people believe the best teams were saved for last.
Last week, James “Clayster” Eubanks led eUnited to a first place finish in Group Yellow. The week before that, FaZe Clan and Enigma6 topped Group Blue, while Luminosity took control of Group Red at the start of the season.
Now the stage is set for the final four teams in the CWL Global Pro League to travel to Columbus, Ohio to compete for the last two spots in the $500,000 Stage Two Playoffs. Featuring some of the best teams and rivalries in Call of Duty, Group Green is shaping up to be the most exciting weekend yet.
Tournament format
Twelve teams have already competed in Stage Two of the CWL Global Pro League, which means this is the final week of the regular season. All of the teams in the CWL GPL have already qualified for next month’s Call of Duty World League Championship, so the regular season matches will determine who earns a spot in the $500,000 Stage Two Playoffs.
This weekend will feature the last four teams competing in double round robin group play. Each team will play against the other squads twice for a total of six matches, and the two teams with the best records will earn their spots in this season’s playoffs at the end of July.
Group Green teams
OpTic Gaming
Roster: Seth “Scump” Abner, Matthew “FormaL” Piper, Damon “Karma” Barlow, and Ian “Crimsix” Porter
Once considered the best team in the game, OpTic’s two consecutive disappointing performances have seen many fans pass that title to Luminosity. The Green Wall came in fourth at the CWL Stage One Playoffs in May, and finished top eight at the CWL Anaheim Open in June. Now, Call of Duty fans are wondering how this extremely talented team will bounce back in the final week of Stage Two—will we see OpTic dominate the competition, or will Green Wall fans leave Columbus heartbroken?
Team EnVyUs
Roster: Jordan “JKap” Kaplan, Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat, Johnathan “John” Perez, and Bryan “Apathy” Zhelyazkov
The boys in blue are coming off one of the worst performances in the organization’s history. Team EnVyUs placed top 24 at CWL Anaheim last month, and many fans are worried about the future of this roster. Last year’s Call of Duty World League champions have really struggled so far in Infinite Warfare, but fans of Team EnVyUs are hoping they can turn their season around this weekend.
Epsilon Esports
Roster: Joshua-Lee “Joshh” Shephard, David “Dqvee” Davies, Billy “Hawqeh” Harris, and Stephen “Vortex” Allen
This European squad has been one of the strongest teams in the game recently. Led by the tremendous slaying power of Dqvee, Epsilon finished third at CWL Anaheim last month and took home first in the EU-only CWL Sheffield Open in June. Many fans expect Epsilon to put on a show this weekend and qualify for the playoffs, but they’ll have to go through three strong North American teams to do so.
Cloud9
Roster: Patrick “ACHES” Price, Adam “Assault” Garcia, John “Xotic” Bruno, and Preston “Priest” Greiner
Since their roster change in May, Cloud9 has become a force to be reckoned with once again. With three talented and aggressive slayers surrounding a savvy veteran, C9 surprised a lot of people when they came in fourth at CWL Anaheim last month. Some fans don’t know what to expect from Cloud9 this weekend, but they’ll look to keep turning heads with another strong performance on LAN.
How to watch, and when
Every CWL Global Pro League match can be viewed on multiple platforms, including MLG.tv, Twitch, Facebook, YouTube, and in-game on Infinite Warfare for PlayStation 4. MLG.tv’s Enhanced Viewer Experience does provide the most interactive way to watch these matches, however, with real-time statistics, the scorestreak trivia game in the stream’s chat, and Featured POV Streams of individual players.

The past three weeks have provided amazing Call of Duty matches, but Group Green could feature the best gameplay yet. Seven of the 16 players competing this weekend are Call of Duty world champions—and two of them have won a CoD Champs ring twice.
The storylines and rivalries are also prevalent in this group. Every Call of Duty fan knows about ACHES breaking the Green Wall, and he also has somewhat of a heated rivalry with his former teammate, SlasheR.
Group Green is definitely the toughest group to predict, which is also why so many fans are excited to watch this weekend’s matches. Recent placings would suggest Epsilon and C9 are the top two teams in this group, but you can never bet against two of the longest-standing organizations in Call of Duty esports.
This weekend is sure to provide a lot of high-octane Call of Duty action, and it all starts tomorrow afternoon.
