It's a more comprehensive reset this time.

DMZ gets refreshed with every Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 season. These updates tend to be large in size and feature drastic changes for all modes in MW2, and season four is no exception.

As well as shipping new cosmetics and blueprints, seasonal updates introduce new mechanics to DMZ. Changes of this caliber aim to make the Call of Duty extraction mode’s gameplay experience fresh again as new and returning players spend the first days of the patch exploring the newly-released content.

With season four approaching, the developers have revealed the massive wave of changes coming to DMZ in season four.

What is coming to DMZ in season four?

Here’s a list of the major new additions coming to DMZ in season four:

  • A new exclusion zone map, Vondel.
  • The Forward Operating Base: a new central hub/menu system with tons of new upgrades.
  • Urgent Missions that reward Faction Reputation, including rep for the new faction, Phalanx.

Vondel is the new map being introduced for season four. Aside from DMZ, it will also host matches of Resurgence and the new Lockdown LTM mode at launch, with normal battle royale matches coming later in the season.

Vondel is a “Baroque European city where centuries of old-world history blends with modern architectural development,” featuring a number of unique landmarks and points of interest, and lots of water to play in.

In DMZ mode, up to 18 Operators, or six squads of three, can deploy to Vondel at any given time.

A new central hub for DMZ players will be added via the Forward Operating Base, or FOB. Here, players can complete various objectives to increase their wallet and Key Stash size, upgrade their insured and Contraband weapons, earn discounts at the Buy Station, and unlock Urgent Missions.

Urgent Missions, Faction Reputation, and new faction Phalanx

Urgent Missions are smaller, faster versions of faction tasks, which provide Faction Reputation and faster Story Mission unlocks. Earning Faction Reputation with specific factions can allow you to unlock more insured weapon slots and expand your stashes. Faction Reputation will also let you unlock the wallet, which will allow you to exfil and keep cash with you, giving you the option to deploy with cash in your pockets in the future.

Not much is known about the new faction Phalanx; much of the info in the most recent blog post is redacted. There will be new missions for the Phalanx faction, plus new and refreshed missions for the other factions.

When will DMZ season four release?

DMZ season four will officially launch on June 14, 2023. More information about DMZ season four will release via a “special Infinity Ward DMZ Community Update” on June 9.

Stay frosty until then.
