Steven “Diabolic” Rivero, who most recently played for Enigma6, has announced his retirement from competitive Call of Duty via Twitter.
In a rather brief Twitlonger post earlier today, Diabolic said he will no longer compete in Call of Duty. He thanked those who supported him throughout the years, including his sister and her husband, who helped Diabolic so much that said he “would not have even had a chance to pursue the passion.”
As a part of Enigma6, Diabolic qualified for the 2019 CWL Pro League in January. Unfortunately, the team struggled in early on in the season, winning just three of their 11 matches to this point.
This led the team to replace Diabolic and Martin Chino with former Ghost Gaming player Adam “GodRx” Brown and former Midnight Esports player Eric “JetLi” Phan on April 20. With every other league team already locking in their rosters for CWL London, Diabolic was apparently left without a team.
Diabolic, throughout his nearly seven-year pro career, has played for Rise Nation, Dream Team, Renegades, Echo Fox, and Enigma6, the latter of which he played with since January 2018.
And while unable to win a major offline title, he secured a second-place finish at the 2016 North American CWL Stage Two playoffs as a part of Dream Team. He also competed twice at the Call of Duty Championship, taking top 24 in last year’s event with E6.
Call of Duty fans and players alike have voiced their support for Diabolic in his post-playing career via Twitter. In a reply, Diabolic said he is going to explore “other options in life” to see what he enjoys.
