Denial eSports claims the number one seed after winning the 2015 Call of Duty Championship. The team they beat to earn the crown, Revenge Gaming, was appropriately given the second seed. Would Revenge have been invited to the ESWC had they not performed so well at CoD Champs? Probably not, because the team is not playing in the MLG Pro League and are playing under a relatively unknown organization. The ESWC will now give them another chance to prove to the world that they are one of the best teams in Call of Duty.

Optic Gaming, who are attending the event due to winning the fan vote, were given the third seed, which also seems appropriate considering the other teams in attendance. Epsilon has proven themselves to be the best European team, winning the European Regional Finals in preparation for CoD Champs. However, they did not perform well at the main event. The other teams were not present at CoD Champs as full rosters, but several players did compete.

The groups:

Group A: Denial, Optic, Millenium, Barrage

Group B: Revenge, Epsilon, Faze France, Vitality

Each team participating will be given the opportunity to play on main stage at least once. The overall schedule has been released, and the main stage matches during group play will feature:

Revenge vs Vitality

Faze France vs Epsilon

Millenium vs Optic Gaming

Denial vs Barrage

The top two teams from each group will advance to a single elimination bracket. Many people have expressed frustration with this schedule, mostly over the fact that Denial and Optic will not be playing each-other on main stage. The two teams are widely considered the best in the world. However, all playoff matches will all be played out on the main stage, making it very likely that the match ups people are most interested in watching will be played on stream.
